About our Coaches
Here at The Phoenix Center we take our coaches roles as teachers and mentors with the utmost of importance. As such all of our coaches are Professional Members of USA Fencing, are members of The Positive Coaching Alliance, and follow the United States Olympic Committee's SafeSport policies. We believe that kids should be able to train seriously while being in a fun, safe, and positive envionrment to achieve the goal of having a more fulfullying life. STAFF
Founder & Head Coach
Coach Eric Soyka is the Founder and Owner of The Phoenix Center. He is the current US National Coach for Parafencing and has been training athletes for almost two decades. In this time his students have earned national medals in all three weapons and has coached several athletes to World Teams where they have competed in World Cups as well as World Championship events. Coach Eric is excited to share his extensive knowledge of the sport and help athletes grow both on and off the strip!
Epee Coach
Coach Vicki Wines is excited to join Team Phoenix as both an athlete and a coach. Coach Vicki has been fencing for over a decade having earned multiple national and international medals. A member of the 2012 Cadet World Team, Coach Vicki has also earned accolades for her NCAA performance at Cornell University. Coach Vicki is looking forward to working with our athletes!
Epee Coach/Para Coach
Coach Tori Isaacson has been an athlete at The Phoenix Center since 2013. Coach Tori is excited to join Team Phoenix as an able-bodied and para-fencing coach. Coach Tori is a member of the 2019 Wheelchair Fencing World Team and is a multi- national medalist. Coach Tori is bringing the knowledge as an occupational therapy doctorate student to the para-fencing program, as well as her experiences as an athlete to help our athletes grow both on the strip and off the strip.
